The GIFs are alive!
Here's a customer request fulfilled! Previously, uploading an animated gif would show you only a still image instead of the animated gif that you were trying to share with your friends. This occurred because Friends Without Ads (FWA) automatically resizes your images to a number of (non-animated) sizes that are just right for FWA, which results in some very boring non-animated images. But no longer! Any animated GIF you upload will now remain animated!
Quotas still apply
Just remember as you upload that high-quality animated GIFs can get quite large and take up a similar amount of space to uploaded movies. To save space, we recommend using a moderate resolution (like 800px x 600px or less), and a moderate length (like 5 seconds or less) so that you get the point across without using up too much data.
